Procedure to Park a domain, add a sub-domain, and add a
new domain under your main account:
1.
Parking a domain:
Before
you park a new domain, make sure you have not
exceeded the maximum number of domains that you
are allowed to park. This is shown on the left
side of your Control Panel main page. Parking a
domain is to point one domain to your main
domain. Suppose you have a website "mysite.com"
and you want to point domain "mysite.net"
and "mysite.org" to your main website
"mysite.com": mysite.net
-> mysite.com
mysite.org -> mysite.com Login
to your Control Panel:
http://www.mysite.com/cpanel/ Click
the icon "Parked Domains", enter your
new domain and click the button "Add
Domain!". Now the new domain points to the
main domain. To
remove your parked domain, select the domain
from the dropdown menu and click the button
"Remove Domain!".
2. Add a sub-domain:
Before
you add a new sub-domain, make sure you have not
exceeded the maximum number of sub-domains that
you are allowed to add. This is shown on the
left side of your Control Panel main page. To
add a sub-domain, login to your Control Panel: http://www.mysite.com/cpanel/ Click
the icon "Addon Domains", you will be
asked to enter a new domain name, "Username/directory/subdomain
Name" and a password. Leave
the box "New Domain Name" blank
because you are not adding a new domain, but
just a sub-domain. Enter your sub-domain name in
the 2nd box. For example, if you want to have a
subdomain sub.mydomain.com, just enter: sub Give
a password and click the button "Add
Domain!". Under
your main web directory, you will see a
sub-directory "sub" is created. You
can upload web pages to the sub-directory
"sub" which will be viewable from the
website "http://sub.mydomain.com". If
this sub-domain is managed by a separate person
and you want to limit the person's access to the
sub-directory, you can just provide the person
the following FTP login which is limited to the
sub-directory only: User
name: sub@mydomain.com
Password: (whatever you defined when
creating the subdomain). To
add email accounts for the sub-domain such as
"email@sub.mydomain.com",
go to the Control Panel main page and click the
icon "Mail" and then click the link
"Add/Remove Accounts". Then click the
link "Add Accounts" and give your
email account user name and select the
sub-domain that you desire. You will create the
email account for the sub-domain.
3.
Add a new domain under the main account: Adding
a new domain under the main account is very
similar to add a sub-domain. The only difference
is that you need to give the new domain name.
Note that when you add a new domain under your
main account, you are also creating a sub-domain
with a sub-directory which will be the home page
of the new domain. For
example, when you add a new website "new-site.com"
under your main account "main.com".
From your control panel, click the icon "Addon
Domains". Enter your new domain "new-site.com",
enter the sub-domain or sub-directory name
"new-site" and enter a password. Click
"Submit", then your new domain
"new-site.com" is set up. You have
automatically created a sub-directory
"/new-site/"under your main domain
home directory. This sub-directory
"/new-site/" is your new domain
"new-site.com" home directory and you
need to upload files to the directory. If
the new domain is managed by a separate person
and you want to limit the person's access to the
sub-directory, you can just provide the person
the following FTP login which is limited to the
sub-directory only: User
name: new-site@new-site.com
Password: (whatever you defined when
creating the new domain). The
physical path to the web directory on the
server: Main
domain (main.com):
/home/main/www/
New domain (new-site.com):
/home/main/www/new-site/ To
add email accounts for the new domain such as
"email@new-site.com",
go to the Control Panel main page and click the
icon "Mail" and then click the link
"Add/Remove Accounts". Then click the
link "Add Accounts" and give your
email account user name and select the new
domain. You will create the
email account for the new domain. To
download emails for the new domains, use the
following login: Host
name: new-site.com
Login user name: new-site@new-site.com
Password: (whatever you defined) Note
that you need to use the complete email address
as the user name.
